A friend of mine was telling me it never gets pitch black in florida,
US at night, is it true, and if it is, any details to the reason?

thanx,
Asger

Nope, Asger, not true...

Florida has many towns, cities and industrial areas that,
just like in other states, add to "light pollution" and keep
the night sky from getting "pitch black."

And yet there are still lots of places to go out away from
the above hot spots where you can find total darkness on
a night when the Moon isn't above the horizon. You can
easily see the Milky Way stretching across the sky, and
the dimmest stars pop out at you right along with the bright
ones!

Nope, in Fla. the main problem is not finding darkness. In
Fla. the problems are mosquitos, snakes, gators 'n such!

happy days and...
starry starry nights!
