Abuse of my e-mail-address by a computer infected with the Sober.H virus

It is a common problem. No one with any clue would think that the spam
came from you.
I am not sure if viruses that spread virus-free (!) spam mails
are already common. At least to me this concept is rather
new.

Sorry for the late reply, I’ve been under the weather for the
last couple of days.
To me it was common knowledge. I spend more time hanging around
news.admin.net-abuse.email then I do around here.
The all too sad truth is that almost all viruses are now being written
for the benefit of spamers. Today, viruses are spamed out to tens of
millions of email addresses in hopes of infecting several thousands of
machines with a Trojan. Typically the user will receive an email that
will say something along the lines of Critical Update from Microsoft
or it may look like a bounced email. When the attachment in the email
is opened, a SMTP server is installed and the machine is setup as an
open relay. Once the spamers have enough zombie machines, they start
their spam run, safe in the knowledge that it cannot be tracked back
to them. Their spam software forges the headers including the sender
and the network from where it was sent.
In this particular case, it is suspected that this version of the
Sober virus was sent out specifically to spread this racist crap from
Germany.
If you would like to receive a virus-infected email, just post your
real email address like this
You can be sure that it will be promptly harvested and a virus infect
email will be on its way. This is just another seeding of my spam
trap. This address has NEVER opted in to anything. It is only used for
Usenet posts and it gets spam and virtues all the time, which I do
LART.
Anyway back to on topic posts,
