Eyepiece Selection
Good morning!
I have dabbled in amateur astronomy for a few years (own an 8" f/6 dob
and some plossl eyepieces), but I have about decided to take the
plunge and upgrade. What I am thinking is this:
12.5" Portaball with the following eyepiece selection:
Radian 6, 12, 18
Panoptic 24
Portability and ease of use are the most important factors and I hope
this set maximizes those aspects.
All told, it comes to a bit over $5K, but these things are all pretty
easy to re-sell if I ever change my mind, so I'm not all that worried
about the money. Besides, I think I will keep them a long time.
What I am concerned about is
1) Whether coma really increases a great deal between f/6 and f/5 (I
have to say it does not bother me at all at f/6).
2) Are the eyepiece choices above a good range or could I do better
with some other ones?
3) Any other comments, especially negative ones or things I may be
missing.
Thanks for any help.
