Since it is half-way through April, I am going to make a wild guess
and say that the sill plate is the new type of pressure-treated
wood. If so, I hope you paid attention to the fasteners you used.


Thanks. Since I'm not a frequent buyer of PT lumber I have no idea
whether it's the new type or the old type. I used 3" stainless steel
screws, which should be adequate.

The old treatment was outlawed at the end of 2003. The new treatment eats
through most fasteners in just a few months. Stainless is one of the two
recommended fasteners. The other is double-hot dipped galvanized.
