NASA's images of Mars are the wrong color

It is well known that people who advertise who is or is not in their

the first place when you can just do it and move on? It's a "look at
me!" thing.
From what I've observed, I'd guess it to be more of a public
expression of exasperation than anything else. It also serves to
inform the irritant that he/she/it can post a reply, but a
further reply will not be forthcoming.
It's also a common technique to avoid answering arguments that one
can't answer. The "plonk" is rarely done in this case (I am positive,
for example, that Crinklaw is reading this despite his "plonk" of me
... heh!), but stands as the admission of defeat, but done in a way
that soothes the ego (and alleviates the growing cognitive dissonance
problems).
When you massage that ego, keep a box of tissues nearby. ;^) In
your case, it appeared from how you ignored authoritative posts
supporting Greg's points that your primary agenda was simply to
troll Greg. You made some downright silly comments in the
Meridiani thread, e.g., that the colour response of the Pancam
isn't well known or not being used, or e.g., that "all colour
images are false colour" and "green sky and pebbles aren't
true-colour" is somehow a backpedaling contradiction. You are
very plonkable. YMMV, IMO and all that.
Have a nice day.
