Default Fantastic seeing in Boston area - Jan 1

Robinson:
Hi, if you're anywhere near Boston I suggest you leave the computer for a
while and have a look at Saturn through the clouds. The air is
spectacularly still, seeing is just about as good as it gets here.
Transparencies pretty bad but good enough for Saturn. The moon's not too
bad either.

This was true in Maryland this evening as well -- until it clouded over
completely. I grabbed my Questar with Meade LPI attached and captured a
couple of pix of the moon, which are at
http://www.davidillig.com/ast-moon040101.shtml.

There is nothing like the stillness of humid air for observing extended
solar system objects.
