How many galaxies?
Last Sunday I saw a television preacher talking about how just until
recently astronomers believed that there were only about 10 billion
galaxies total.
He then said that the Hubble Space "Equipment" had recently revealed
that there were actually more like 50 billion galaxies.
Somebody tell me if I'm wrong, but I seem to remember that figure
being upwards of 100 billion galaxies when I was in grade school
(early sixties).
The preacher was Jack Van Impe, and he was talking about how great the
Glory of God must be for there to be so many galaxies. Looks like
he's short-changed God's Glory by at least 50 billion galaxies. Seems
like quite a bit to me.
Reckon these guys ever have a clue when they talk about science?
