Default Bad nights observing

Most of the time when a group of scientist is allotted observation time on
major observatory there is an embargo of the data.
Example : a group of scientist write a proposal for time on let say Gemini
telescope or Hubble Space Telescope. The proposal is approved and the
scientists do the obsevation and gather the data. Those data are not available
to the outsider (embargoed ) so that the scientist whose proposal was approved
have the first shot at the data.

I was only interested in looking through the scope live (or quasi
live). I would not request their data. Well, maybe the FOV,
magnification and filters used. But no need for coordinates in case
it's a new discovery. It would be part of the fun to figure out what
the scope is looking at!.

With the advent of robotic scope , "Rent a Scope" ,

I was hoping it would be free!. Nice concept though, for really
desperate occasions. But it was not pictures I had in mind. Live
observing, a la aficionado. One could save the screen at any time of
course.

CCD imagery and High speed
Internet access like Cable or DSL . IMHO hooking up to a telescope somewhere
else when you are clouded up is going to be routine.

That is what I'm talking about. Let's start a trend.

BTW there is really an outfit called "Rent A Scope"
