Chris L Peterson:
The orbital elements of the meteor have been determined with
reasonable accuracy. It was not space junk, and it was unrelated to
DA14 (the two had very different orbits).

The question was settled by a Russian Federal Assemblyman, who said
that the event was "an American weapons test."
