Default Fallacy of Relativistic Doppler Effect

do you mean by transverse,
that the relative motion is perpendicular to the distance between the
two,
as in a circular orbit, or
twice in an elliptical orbit, or once in a hyperbolic orbit?

I mean, everything cannot be settled "on the x-axis,
without loss of generality."
