This idea comes up at lest once a year and the answer is no. You would have to
form a new newsgroup and someone would have to be the one who gets and ok's all
the posting. There are such newsgroups, but they have far less postings and far
less users.

"In this universe the night was falling, the shadows were lengthening
towards an east that would not know another dawn.
But elsewhere the stars were still young and the light of morning
lingered: and along the path he once had followed, man would one day go
again."

Is it possible for this group to be moderated to eliminate the posts from
the trolls and loons? Is it asking too much to keep this group on the topic
of amateur astronomy? I am tired to thousands of posts from trolls and even
more inexcusable are the rants and foul language from participants that
sometimes provide helpful on-topic information. A recent example is the
thread regarding the Boy Scouts of America. I, like everyone else have an
opinion regarding this organization, but this opinion whether positive or
negative, should not be expressed in this newsgroup!!! If the topic is not
related to astronomy, equipment, observing, imaging, etc, it does not belong
here. It is that simple. What is so difficult about that concept?
