Default Progress fails to dock with ISS

The thing is though, one has to wonder how an entirely separate system being
switched on, could confuse both strings of the automatic system, unless
what they are in fact saying its that the craft effectively went into some
kind of safe mode, or the equipment at the station end did. This info in the
second article explains why it was stated that the problem was cused by the
station, but not exactly why the system responded as it did. What of the
tumbling? Obviously a craft with no active control will tumble, but one
assumes now that control has been regained or they would not be looking
toward a docking.

Very odd, you cannot exactly call a service engineer out in this instance!

they will attempt kurs docking again.

out of curiosity, how would nasa know that the Progress lost telemetry ?
Is it just because they would have an observer in Korolev, or because
they get a copy of this telemetry through TDRS ?
