With the increasing of 3D movies we are going towards the "smell-o-cinema" as in Brave New World.
We'll have the exaltation of senses and the decreasing of film's psychology.
Somebody has already done Smell-O-Vision:

Ever since (sense? scents?) optical special effects have gotten so good,
it's been a real challenge to try to make or release a thoughtful film.
Now of course the ultimate "One-Trick Pony" - George Lucas - is thinking
of re-releasing all six Star Wars films in 3D:

Imagine if Leonardo da Vinci had just painted the Mona Lisa, then
repainted it with eyebrows, then repainted that so she was also naked,
then repainted that so that she was without eyebrows again but still
naked and there was a war going on in the background, then repainted
that so she was nude and had glowing eyes, while The Twelve Apostles
battled Satan in the background with their Light Crucifixes and the
ghostly form of Jesus looked on...
Of course in the new and improved Last Supper, we will see that Judas
had tried to stab Jesus with a bread knife just after Jesus said that
one of the Apostles would betray him, so he got what was coming to him. ;-)
