It is especially impressive given the poor optical figure of the scope
and the uncorrected chromatic aberrations. At least he had a nice dark
sky to look at. Light pollution was no doubt not a problem, though in
the prime seeing winter months I wouldn't doubt that the smoke from
fires used for warmth were a major issue in any sort of populated area.
