If it costs $10k to send a pound into LEO orbit,
and if 2000Kg of 'waste' was returned in the last shuttle,
then thats 2000*2.2*10000 = $44 Million US ~ $50M USD
(not factoring in the septic tank here either)

How is it economic to return this?

Why not sterilize it and use it for compost, or reaction mass...

Thats right, reaction mass!

Ionise it, and then accelerate it and then use it to power a probe :)

The reason why Xenon was used in Deep Space was that it has high atomic
weight,
it singly ionises easily, and it is inert and easy to handle on ground.
It is also very expensive, and someone will get a lot of money for making
it...

So here is a proposal - RFT for the Plasma Poo Propulsion Unit - P3U

how do I get a patent on this?

Yes, funnily enough, I heard this same idea on a phone in once, about a year
or so ago.

I thought it was, though suggested as a joke, maybe a valid idea.

However, if the energy needed to do the job exceeds the energy you get, then
I don't think its a goer, somehow.

Oh, and I'd not volunteer to clean the tanks either...
