Myron (Pappy) Papadakis (a well-known attorney, jumbo-jet
pilot, and air-crash investigator) always referred to the crossing
of the rocket boosters in the 51-L fireball as "the switcharoody."
When Pappy finally left my former Florida home at 5 am on July
11, 1988, he told me, "Before I came here, I was not convinced
of the switcharoody. I am now!"
Pappy had been trying to get a copy of the E202 film from NASA,
with no success. He and my lead attorney, Howard Acosta, badly
wanted to see key 51-L originals in NASA's 70 mm film collection.
Because he had not been successful in obtaining film from JSC via
the FOIA, Pappy had flown from Texas on the evening of July 10,
1988, to view my own collection of FOIA film from KSC.
[Later, Howard decided I should be the one to make the first KSC
request for a 70 mm film-screening session, under the terms of the
FOIA. My effort was unsuccessful (see http://tinyurl.com/hp0a).]
