Sad isnt it? Its similiar to the O rings.

Where previous flights had troubles.

So palmdale didnt do its job well? Didnt install parts properly?

I wonder if that contribuited to Columbia?

You're asking the questions, do you have any facts to back up these
veiled accusations?

Theres a article that one previous flight had a burn thru caused by palmdale
not reinstalling a seal properly. After that procedures were changed.

I wonder if since Columbia had just been back from palmdale if any mistakes
were made. I guess theres no way to know.

Wasn't 107 Columbia's *second* flight after the retrofit?

So it looks like Palmdale got the pieces right as Columbia would
have fallen from a much higher altitude and endured much more heating.
Or is the double Spacelab's mass enough to make the heating equivalent?
