hello,
My interests for astronomy is only visual and most of all deepsky
objects!
maybe someone can help me out making a choise between the lx200 10"
acf or the lx90 12"acf!
It's about the same price only the light gattering is bigger in the
lx90 12" but the mount (i've heard) is not as sturdy as the lx 200. Is
this right?
On the lx 200 10 " i would set an 8cm refractor as founderscope
because off the widefield!
and i think the lx 90 mount can not handle this extra weight!
Can someone tell me of the lx 200 10" is big enough for all dso?
Or maybe i have to go for the tube only lx200 12" on a Skywather
EQ6PRO??
Thanks everybody
Regards
Olli

I would go for the 12 inch, if the weight of the tube isn't going to be a
problem. I have heard that is a two man set up. As for using a
refractor for a finder, don't bother. All you have to do is find a
couple of bright stars to sync on.

go with the larger aperture and you won't be disappointed. it doesn't
need a finder scope, but if you mean you use the refractor for widefield
viewing in addition to looking at the high power view in the main scope,
then yes, i really enjoy that setup on the 10" lx200. go with the tube
only and the sturdiest mount you can afford... and lift.

thanks for response, but you mean i have to go for the lx90 12" ,
because this mount isn't so sturdy as the lx 200 mount!
especially if i want an 8cm refractor on it?

thanks, but if i go for the 12" tube only i have to set it on a
parralactisch mount, is it practical for visual observations like the
fork mount?
Thanks a lot

Why not look out for a second hand LX200 12". The guy I bought my 10"
from had just upgraded to a 12" and reckonned that putting it onto his
permanent pier mount nearly killed him.

Now you will find people who eat 5 shredded wheat for breakfast who say
that putting a 12" LX200 on an equatorial wedge is childs play. But I
suggest you find these scopes in the flesh and see if you can lift them
safely. The 10" LX200 isn't too bad if you are fit, I have one (it gets
trickier when your hands are very cold) but the 12" is an awful thing to
handle on your own unless you are Popeye.

Olli wants the scope for visual only. The equatorial wedge is not
needed for that. It is easier to mount and more stable without it. I
assume he knows the 12" is much bigger than the 10" and he can handle
it. After all, he's Dutch and we know how big and strong they are :-)
